Eikendal Vineyards celebrates this festive season with a Christmas & Wine Experience
11:42:00It’s the Festive Season and the air is filled with holiday anticipation, Boney M, year-end parties, Nativity plays … and the sweet and spicy smells of baked delights.
Eikendal Vineyards is bringing the flavours of Christmas to their Tasting Centre with the uniquely delightful Christmas & Wine Pairing.
Expect a truly German cookie treat, Lebkuchen, with its nuances of honey, spices and cloves, covered in a thin layer of icing dancing round the Christmas tree with the Pinotage 2016, which adds flavours of red and black cherries. The Charisma 2016, a blend of Shiraz, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese, and the Mince Pie envelope revellers in a sensory explosion with the rich, sticky, sweet fruits wrapped in a buttery pastry. Just when you thought there is an end to this decadent pairing, the bold and juicy Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 steps up to join a slice traditional, South African Christmas cake, straight from Granny’s recipe book.
Eikendal, conveniently situated between Stellenbosch and Somerset West on the R44, is renowned for its award-winning, internationally acclaimed wines. Apart from the Christmas & Wine Pairing, visitors can enjoy a Wine Tasting (which includes a tasting of the estate’s exclusive Icon range), a Cheesecake & Wine Pairing, a Cookie Tasting for the young ones, Fly Fishing, Cheetah Encounters, Vineyard Rides and a kids’ play area. Popular Cucina di Giovanni offers languid lunches and dinners and visitors even have the option of extending their Eikendal Experience by spending the night at the Eikendal Lodge.
The exclusive Eikendal Christmas & Wine Pairing, which costs R100 per person, will keep visitors in the holiday spirit from 1 to 31 December, Tuesdays to Sundays between 10:00 and 16:30.
