Celebrate in Full Bloom at this year’s Protea Party

Contemporary design meets understated elegance at the fifth annual Protea Party, which takes place at Anthonij Rupert Estate in Franschhoek, on Saturday 27 October 2018.

Having firmly established itself as one of Franschhoek’s social calendar highlights, Anthonij Rupert Wyne’s annual Protea Party continues to live up to its name, which is a celebration of the estate’s much-loved Protea wine range. This exclusive event combines creative design, inspired seasonal cuisine, superb wine and generous hospitality to present an unforgettable evening under a starlight sky in the Cape Winelands.

The Protea range - which consists of eight single varietal wines - takes its name from the flower species unique to the Cape Floral Kingdom and is synonymous with elegant design and value for money. These elements have proven to be essential concepts when putting together outstanding events.

The theme for the 2018 celebration is “Contemporary Floral”, taking inspiration from the international trend of large format floral wallpapers, fabrics and prints in creating bold and imaginative spaces. With the Western Cape’s recent drought, the Protea brand’s environmental conscience extends beyond simply that of upcycling at this year’s event. “Water as a precious resource has prompted creativity in many fields. We are excited to showcase new ideas for using water wise florals in event spaces,” says Gidi Caetano, Hospitality Manager at Anthonij Rupert Wyne.

On arrival guests will be greeted with Protea cocktails to enjoy as the sun sets on the estate. Dinner - a generous three-course, harvest style feast of seasonal winelands produce - will be served at long tables beneath an expansive marquee. The full range of Protea wines will be available for enjoyment throughout the evening. Entertainment will be provided by a live band and the famous dance-floor is a must for working off all those calories under the stars after dinner!

“Five years of hosting the Protea Party is an exciting milestone and one which has proven that our inspiration for the event isn’t a once-off trend, but a strong movement towards a more sustainable lifestyle,” says Gidi. “We’re thrilled to celebrate this common vision with our guests this year!”
