The Durbanville Wine Valley is internationally recognised as home to some of South Africa’s best Sauvignon Blancs. This was reiterated again this week when four of the Valley’s estates featured in the 2018 FNB Sauvignon Blanc Top 10 competition.

They were:

• D’Aria The Songbird 2017 
• De Grendel Koetshuis 2017 (wooded) 
• Diemersdal Winter Ferment 2018 
• Nitida Wild Child 2017 (wooded)

Says Martin Moore, chairman of the Durbanville Wine Valley: “The Durbanville Wine Valley is the heartland of Sauvignon Blanc which these awards once again demonstrate. We are delighted with the four Durbanville estates who triumphed this year and congratulate all the winners for continuing to ensure that locally produced Sauvignon Blancs are recognised on a global market for their high quality and standards.”

The other wines in the Top 10 were the Bellingham Homestead 2018; Flagstone Free Run 2017; Fryer’s Cove Doringbay 2017; Rustenberg 2018; Tokara Reserve Collection Elgin 2018 and the Zalze Vineyard Reserve 2017.

The Durbanville Wine Valley is a treasure trove of historic homesteads, stunning landscapes, award-winning restaurants and some of South Africa’s premium wine labels.

Jack and Charlie Stein – sons of acclaimed British chef Rick Stein – have been spotted in the area recently, filming a new 13-part food and wine television series from Oxyg3n Media called Wine, Dine & Stein, which will have a local and international broadcast.
