09:50:00Following on its successes for 2018 the Paul Cluver Noble Late Harvest 2017 not only scored an impressive five-star rating in the highly anticipated Platter’s by Diners Club South African Wine Guide 2019, but was also amongst 25 wines to be endorsed as Wine of the Year within their respective categories. A botrytis Riesling – the first to be released in three years – the wine was named Noble Late Harvest of the Year.
Sporting an eye-catching Amphora colour the guide was launched on Monday, 5 November at an event held in Cape Town, which was attended by members of the wine and media industries. A total of 90 five star wines were awarded the sought-after five star status this year.
Earlier this year the Noble Late Harvest 2017 scored an outstanding rating of 96 points at the 2018 International Wine Challenge. In addition, the same vintage scored 96 points again in the annual review of South African wines by leading authority on wine Tim Atkin MW. On the local front it received a Double Gold in The National Wine Challenge for its superb quality. These accolades are testimony to Cellar Master, Andries Burger’s philosophy in only producing a wine of outstanding quality.
According to Andries this particular Noble Late Harvest delivers on a superb concentration of flavours, guaranteed to take your senses on a journey of pure wine delight. The aromas on the nose carry through to the palate with fresh pineapple, marmalade, kumquat and honey characters. The mouth feel is beautifully balanced and is full of a fresh acidity, with a long and lingering aftertaste, it’s the perfect partner to cheeses, desserts or simply enjoy, chilled on its own. Available directly from the Tasting Room at R300 per bottle, as well as select outlets nationwide.
