Fond memories of a wonderful visit to Vondeling wines
17:02:00WineTourismZA did some serious #WineryExploring last weekend on the slopes of the Paardeberg mountain at a wine farm called Vondeling.
The hike started here at The Farmhouse |

Back at the farm, the extremely knowledgeable senior winemaker, Matthew Copeland took us on a cellar tour and then we went across the road to the wedding chapel where a very enthusiastic functions and events manager, Mariaan Harris showed us around and told us everything about what they have to offer at Vondeling.

Mariaan then hosted us at the wine tasting room where Matthew presented a tutored tasting of Vondeling's award winning wines. Charcuterie and Cheese platters were served for lunch. After the wine tasting and lunch, the best part was that I did not have to drive home. We stayed over at the extremely comfortable and luxurious Farmhouse.

My favourite white wine on the day was the Vondeling Chardonnay 2018. It is a full-bodied wine with vibrant flavours that will go well with my butter chicken dish. On the red side it was definately the Bowwood Pinotage 2016. It has a delightfully intense plum and berry bouquet with a hint of sweet cloves and vanilla oak. It will pair excellently with my Osso Buco dish!
Visitors can order a generous farm-style Vintner’s Platter, which they can enjoy with a bottle of Vondeling wine |

There is also a secluded BBQ mext to the pool where the Vondeling Team hosted us later that evening for a scrumptious braai.
