Boschendal to host 2020 Cape Wine Auction
17:15:00South Africa’s second oldest wine farm, Boschendal, will play host to the 2020 Cape Wine Auction, regarded as the most significant wine charity auction ever conceived in this country, uniting the industry around a single goal of raising money for education.
The auction is set for February 14 and 15 at the historic estate which dates back to 1685. The Friday night auction will take place at The Werf Restaurant, situated in the beautifully revamped original cellar of the Manor House, with the main event – The Cape Wine Auction – happening the following evening, on Saturday, February 15 at The Olive Press.
In its seven years of existence, The Cape Wine Auction – which is presented by Nedbank Private Wealth - has raised over R86 million, with all proceeds going to carefully selected beneficiaries who make a profound impact on the education and lives of children in the Cape winelands.

In a departure from previous years, the Friday evening auction will no longer revolve around the blind bidding of rare and unique wines but will, for the first time, include 15 once-in-a-lifetime weekend winemaker/owner experiences with some of South Africa’s top wineries on offer to the highest bidders.
Saturday, February 15, will feature an exhilarating global showcase of the South African wine industry with a chance to bid for lots that money can’t ordinarily buy, including:
An unforgettable seven-day sailing expedition for eight people with Meridian Adventure SAIL to Raja Ampat in Indonesia.
- A once in a lifetime drive experience on ice, at the Jaguar Land Rover Ice Academy in Arjeplog, which lies at the very edge of the Arctic Circle.
- Three pieces of work from internationally acclaimed South African sculptor Anton Smit's Agapé Effervescent series.
- A two-night stay at Cape Town’s newest boutique Hotel, Camissa House, as well as a two-night stay at the luxury Silvan Safari Lodge worth R325 000.
- A 10-year vertical of Epicurean wines in magnum format, along with four nights accommodation at The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa or at Shambala Private Game Reserve.
- Three nights’ accommodation for 10 people in Quoin Rock Manor House plus extras which has a value of R560 000.
- Three nights for two couples at the Rickety Bridge Manor House as well as seven nights for three couples in a centrally-located Paris apartment only a few minutes’ walk from the Arc de Triomphe.
