Save the date for this year’s Middelvlei Family Day, Saturday, 7 March, which promises to be a fun day out for the whole family.

Not only the perfect opportunity for a family outing but also to celebrate the end of the harvest season.

Adding to the day’s fun and festivities are the line-up of boeresport games, guaranteed to be one of the day’s highlights. These include old favourites such as barrel rolling and cork spitting. While the kids are kept entertained parents can sit back and relax while sipping on a glass of Middelvlei wine and taking in the sights and sounds of the views and live entertainment.

Tuck into Middelvlei’s popular Boerebraai to keep the hunger at bay. The cost for the lunch is R300 per adult and R100 per child (12 years and younger). Lunch includes a starter of freshly baked potbrood with smoked snoek pâté and homemade preserve. Traditional braai meat such as lamb chops, boerewors and chicken kebabs accompanied with a choice of a braaibroodjie, pumpkin fritters and two salads will be served for main course. For those with a sweet tooth the homemade milktart will be guaranteed to hit the spot. Children under 12 will get to enjoy a delicious kiddies’ burger and chips.
