International Sauvignon Blanc Day falls on Workers’ Day on Friday, 1 May this year when the world celebrates the contributions of working people across the globe.

Now, more than ever, as we all grapple with lockdowns and social distancing, we appreciate the vital role of essential workers in all sectors, to help us overcome the Coronavirus pandemic.

The entire team at Steenberg Farm, from the vineyards, cellar and tasting room, to Bistro Sixteen82 and Tryn restaurants and the Hotel & Spa, raise a toast of Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc to everyone keeping the country going during these uncertain times.

Steenberg is synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc offering a diversity of styles from

a youthful and vivacious bubbly to a trio of elegant wines of great complexity, all individual expressions of the farm’s unique terroir and sense of place in the Constantia Valley.

Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, is a fashion forward, fresh and youthful bubbly perfect for everyday enjoyment or enlivening the palate on special occasions.

Composed of different vineyards sites, the vibrant and fresh Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc from the Estate range is considered a true representation of the Steenberg terroir. Its striking bright acidity and mineral core with lime blossom and green apple make it quintessentially Steenberg.

On the other side of the spectrum is the beautifully textured, lightly wooded Rattlesnake Sauvignon Blanc. Fermented in French oak and concrete egg-shaped vessels, this nuanced wine has a rich and creamy mouthfeel that is both comforting and expressive of its cool climate origins.

Completing the trio is The Black Swan, Steenberg’s acclaimed flagship Sauvignon Blanc. A blend of the top two vineyard blocks on Steenberg Farm, the wine is an expression of the best fruit of the vintage and is known as a Sauvignon Blanc with remarkable ageability.

Steenberg’s distinctive vineyards on the foothills of Steenberg Mountain can be attributed to the synergy between the cool prevailing south-easterly winds that blow off the ocean during summer months and lean soils of decomposed granite that impart the characteristic minerality to the wines. The coastal breezes cool the vines, ensuring the grapes retain their signature bracing acidity and pure fruit character.
