Four Cousins Introduces Revamped Collection Of Single Cultivar Wines
21:00:00One of South Africa’s favourites, Four Cousins, now conveniently offers its range of popular single cultivar wines all under one label.
Fresh from a revamp and re-shuffle, the excellent range made by Four Cousins has banded together as the Four Cousins Collection.
This exciting development comprises the same great wines (with an exciting extra or two), made by the same exacting team. If you’re looking for a spread of highlights – local and international – look no further. The Four Cousins Collection incorporates South Africa’s No. 1 white and red cultivars - Sauvignon blanc and Merlot; and, the global top sellers, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Of course, no self-respecting collection should go without our own home-grown cultivar Pinotage so it’s also included, to the supreme quality standards that Four Cousins is famous for.
What you get are great all-rounder wines, suitable for every occasion. In fact, opening a bottle from the Four Cousins Collection is an occasion in itself – no extra fanfare required. The Chardonnay is a medium-bodied wine with an aroma of fresh grapefruit and flavour of creamy citrus-vanilla. Fresh and fragrant, the Sauvignon blanc has tropical fruit on the nose and ripe figs in the mouth.
As for the reds, aromatics in the Merlot are gentle berry and vanilla toastiness with a typical Merlot mulberry and summer fruit palate. Rich chocolate and mocha toastiness are revealed in the aromas of the Cabernet Sauvignon with every sip revealing flavours reminiscent of ripe blackcurrants.
The Pinotage, which is a cultivar developed right here in South Africa and has since spread to the world, shows beautiful strawberry and black cherry on the nose while rich layers of dark fruit, vanilla and spice characterise its flavour.
In this latest guise, Four Cousins once again steps up to its reputation for making South Africa’s “favourite vino in a bottle” and their story is true. The now well-known four Retief cousins joined forces in the mid 90's. One after the other, after completing their studies, they joined the family farm, Van Loveren. Today, they're the driving force behind the company. Hennie and Neil are the viticulturists, in charge of the farming units and managing the vines. Bussell is the winemaker while Phillip looks after the business side of things.
Their first big endeavour was introducing the Four Cousins range of wines in 2000 and today, their story continues.
The Four Cousins Collection is available online from www.fourcousins.co.za or via amongst others, Makro, Ultra Liquors, selected Spar stores, Food Lovers Market and Kaap Agri.
The recommended sales price is just R59.99/bottle, with a current promotional price of R100 for two.
