Anthonij Rupert Wyne’s L’Ormarins Blanc de Blancs 2013 stood out as one of the ‘gems’, at this year’s fifth annual SA Women’s Wine & Spirit Awards, taking home the title of Méthode Cap Classique of the Year.

Zanie Viljoen (Cap Classique winemaker, Anthonij Rupert Wyne)
The objective of the competition is to find the best wines, spirits and liqueurs judged by all-female panels. This is the only competition of its kind solely judged by women and is becoming increasingly important as a marketing tool. Research has shown that women make up the largest segment of the wine and spirit consumers and are also overwhelmingly the main buyers of wine globally.

The L’Ormarins Blanc de Blancs 2013 radiates elegance and sophistication in its striking packaging. The lively fine mousse makes way for a Cap Classique bursting with zesty lemon, intermingled with a hint of oyster shell. The flavour profile continues with aromas of sour dough bread, limestone, and a delightful hint of caramel. The palate delivers a myriad of fresh fruit flavours, which is perfectly balanced by a rich, rounded, and toasty finish.

Zanie Viljoen who oversees production of this superb Cap Classique suggests enjoying it chilled, on its own or paired fresh oysters, flash fried Prawns with orange and Pernod, a delicious Nectarine Frangipane Tart or even a classic Duck a L’Orange.

Enjoyed throughout the year, and in particularly over the festive season, the L’Ormarins Blanc de Blancs 2013 is available directly from the estate at R230 per bottle, online via www.rupertwines.com, or select outlets nationwide.
