Newly released Constantia Glen TWO 2019 takes centre stage

Savour the elegance of the much anticipated 2019 vintage of Constantia Glen TWO, the flagship white Bordeaux-style blend just released by this top tier family owned boutique wine estate.

The 2019 vintage has already garnered rave reviews from leading local and international wine commentators. It hit the spot at the prestigious 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards in London with a score of 93 points out of 100.

British Master of Wine Tim Atkin applauded the cool climate wine with 93 points in his highly respected Tim Atkin South Africa 2020 Special Report. Atkin described the vintage as “subtle, scented and elegant with pink grapefruit and vanilla pod flavours, racy acidity and deftly integrated leesy weight”.

The 2019 vintage also excelled on home turf with a rating of 94 points in the definitive Platter's South African Wine Guide 2021.

The wine is a consummate blend of Sauvignon Blanc (67%), lending acidity and backbone, and Sémillon (33%) contributing to the waxy weight, richness and texture.

“2019 was yet another excellent vintage for white varieties at Constantia Glen with cool temperatures and a long ripening season preceding the harvest. The moderate weather conditions in the two months leading up to harvest resulted in fantastic flavour development and phenomenal levels of natural acidity in the grapes at the time of picking,” says winemaker Justin van Wyk.

This lauded wine intrigues with delicate aromas of lime, green fig and floral notes delineated by elderflower and orange blossom. The wine is tightly wound in its youth, but shows absolute fruit purity as well as some citrus and waxy notes, which will integrate and develop into an exceptionally refined wine.
