Founded by businessman Bernard Fontannaz in 2016, Le Grande Domaine’s range of wines are best described as passion driven by excellence.

Two of the standout wines in the range, namely the Grand Vin De Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2017 and Grand Vin De Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc 2020, are produced from carefully selected clones and rootstock, and are bound to take pride of place in your cellar this season.

Grand Vin De Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2017
Comprising 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot, the Grand Vin De Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2017 is a beautiful deep red colour with vibrant aromas of blackcurrant on the nose. These aromas are complemented by rich vanilla oak and dark plum flavours on the palate, with soft ripe tannins. Ready to enjoy now, but will reach its full maturation potential if left in the cellar for a further two to four years. The richness of fatty meats like beef and lamb partners beautifully with the tannins in the wine. The combination of the two varietals results in this wine providing a smoother mouthfeel. Slow cooker beef pot roast is not just easy to cook but makes for an ideal partner with the blend. The wine is currently available online at a discounted price of R164,50 per bottle (normal price is R235,00).

Grand Vin De Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, the Grand Vin De Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is vibrant with well-defined gooseberry aromas on the nose, complimented by a fresh, crisp acidity. Soft on the palate with a lingering finish. Enjoy on its own, chilled, or paired with a Winter inspired salad, seafood or poultry dishes. The wine is currently available online at a discounted price of 136,50 per bottle (normal price is R195,00).

Le Grande Domaine is based in the Devon Valley region in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands. Bernard Fontannaz, founder of Origin Vineyards, built up his reputation in the wine industry by establishing sought-after vineyards in South Africa, Argentina and Switzerland. He acquired Le Grand Domaine in 2016 to create a “South African Chateau”, growing only classic Bordeaux varietals.
