Survivor champions Swartland Chenin Blanc
17:35:00Survivor, the unbridled range of terroir driven wines inspired by the indigenous Nguni, is a proud champion of Swartland Chenin Blanc, with two thoroughbred renditions of this South African signature grape variety.
Survivor Chenin Blanc 2020 and the limited release Survivor Bushvine Chenin Blanc Reserve 2019 showcase the best of what the hardy Swartland can produce.
“The low-yielding Swartland vineyards fanned by cooling afternoon and evening sea breezes are ideal conditions for producing Chenin Blanc wines of distinction,” says winemaker Ben Snyman.
The barrel-fermented Survivor Chenin Blanc exudes a medley of apricot and peach, with excellent oak integration and a zesty lime finish.
The limited release Bushvine Chenin Blanc Reserve expresses a profound sense of place. Crafted from select parcels of low-yielding bushvines, this is a wine of great complexity, fruit concentration and finesse.
“The art of winemaking lies in the vineyards and with natural, low-yielding bushvines you can create something extraordinary. This is exactly what we are trying to achieve with our Survivor Reserve range. In keeping with our focus on terroir we have selected the best older Chenin Blanc bushvine blocks to showcase the true essence of the Swartland in this wine,” says winemaker Ben Snyman.
This complex, barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc is creamy and rich with a delightful bouquet of apricot, peach and yellow apple enlivened by hints of zesty lemon.
Survivor Chenin Blanc 2020 is available at a cellar door price of R140, while the Survivor Bushvine Chenin Blanc Reserve 2019 sells at R290 per bottle.
