We are still daydreaming about endless, lazy summer days on the beach and pretty and delicious sundowners.

Even though we may be back in office and swimming in emails instead of the cool blue waters, we can still celebrate summer in style and with some prettiness, especially with Valentine’s Day around the corner.

The De Krans Pinotage Rosé is not only one of De Krans’ fastest growing wines, but also definitely one of our most delicious.

The De Krans Pinotage Rosé has a beautiful light rose petal, blush pink colour with roses, candy floss and strawberries on the nose, and fine, red fruit on the palate. While packed with fruit flavour, the wine has a perfectly balanced acidity, providing a liveliness and freshness to the wine, which makes it easy and delicious to drink on its own, or paired with a variety of food options. This Rosé pairs well with summer salads and seafood dishes, like cob, seafood paella, seared tuna, or a snoek or salmon terrine.

The 2021 De Krans Pinotage Rosé walked away with several awards last year, most notably a Double Gold award at the Rosé Rocks for a fourth year running. Other awards include winning Gold at the Ultra Wine Challenge, GOLD Wine Awards, as well as at the Vitis Vinifera Awards. It was also selected a class winner at the Klein Karoo Young Wine Show and won a silver medal at Veritas.

Staying true to our heritage, our winemaking team initially turned to Tinta Barocca grapes for making a Rosé, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Finally, we settled on Pinotage grapes as they simply result in the best colour and flavour combination.

The Calitzdorp terroir positively contributes to producing wines of classic grape varieties, as it adds to the depth of fruit character and complexity of the wines.

The De Krans Pinotage Rosé forms part of the classic varietal range, which focuses on the classic varieties commonly found in South Africa, but with a twist when it comes to the winemaking process or technique in producing each wine. The range also includes the Basket Press Cabernet Sauvignon, the Free Run Chenin Blanc and the Wild Ferment Chardonnay.

The 2021 De Krans Pinotage Rosé retails for approximately R74 per bottle.

De Krans Wines is situated in Calitzdorp in the Klein Karoo region, on the scenic Route 62. For more information, or to order online please visit our website at www.dekrans.co.za and follow us on social media.
