Tokara, the acclaimed family owned Stellenbosch wine estate, proudly flies the flag as the only South African producer to be included in the 50 Great White Wines of the World 2022.

Awarded a score of 94/100, the much lauded flagship, Tokara Director’s Reserve White 2018, represents everything the farm stands for – refinement, elegance and balance.

The vintage already enjoys wide acclaim as a Platter 5-star wine and Decanter Gold medallist among its string of accolades. A blend of Sauvignon blanc (63%) and Semillon (37%) made from grapes on the highest slopes of the Simonsberg foothills, the wine has amazing clarity and depth. This barrel fermented wine is full and rich with notes of gooseberry and pink grapefruit intertwined with hints of lemon grass and lightly toasted almonds. The Semillon lends an underlying flintiness to the wine, accentuating its amazing clarity and depth with zesty persistence.

The 50 Great White Wines of the World, now in its second year, is organised annually by Wine Pleasures, an organisation based in Barcelona, Spain that hosts international conferences and workshops for the wine and wine tourism industry. The Top 50 ranking of white wines from producers around the world was compiled by a panel of five expert wine judges. The organisers also host 50 Great Sparkling Wines and 50 Great Red Wines of the World.

The top tier Tokara Reserve Collection White 2018 is available at a cellar door price of R320. For more information or online purchases, visit www.tokara.com

Tokara offers visitors an unforgettable winelands experience of top-notch wines, food, olive oil and art in a spectacular setting of vineyards and olive groves against the backdrop of outstretched views over Stellenbosch and beyond.
