Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction 2023: Set to be a feast for the senses

The 39th Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction is a month away, and our team is working hard to create a truly unforgettable experience.

Taking place on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 October 2023 at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, the theme for this year’s auction is The Art of Wine, setting the scene for a feast for the senses.

Here are a few highlights to look forward to:

Exclusive wines on auction

This year’s auction will see a total of 39 wines from 31 Guild members on offer. These comprise 15 white wines and 24 red wines. All wines have been exclusively produced for the auction by members of the Cape Winemakers Guild, a group of highly respected winemakers who hail from appellations across the length and breadth of the Cape winelands.

Exquisite wines to taste

Although the wines on auction may be the main attraction, the event is certainly not a dry one! Throughout Friday evening and Saturday, auction attendees will be able to enjoy a range of superb wines by Cape Winemakers Guild members.

Delicious gourmet food

We’ll be offering a range of delectable gourmet snacks on both Friday evening and Saturday throughout the day.

On Friday evening, you can expect an assortment of mouthwatering canapes and hearty bowl foods, as well as an indulgent cheese buffet.

The feast will continue on Saturday with an array of special dishes created by the following local chefs:
● Chef Yusuf Abrajee, Lord Charles Hotel
● Chef Wesley Aucamp, Ernie Els Wines
● Chef Marthinus Ferreira, The Jordan Restaurant
● Chef Jessica van Dyk, Post and Pepper Restaurant, Stellenbosch
● Chef Vigil Kahn, Indochine Restaurant, Delaire Graff Estate

More about the Cape Winemakers Guild

Established in 1982, the CWG is a collective of 40 of South Africa’s greatest winemakers. Membership is by invitation only and is extended to winemakers who have been responsible for the production of outstanding wines for a minimum of five years and who show promise of not only consistently exceeding industry standards but also promoting the values of the Guild. The members produce rare and unique wines in small quantities exclusively for their annual auction, showcasing wines of excellence from South Africa. The auction has been sponsored by Nedbank since 1996.
