De Krans Wines, situated in Calitzdorp, along the popular Route 62 is a must–visit destination this Summer.

Nestled between the Swartberg Mountains, De Krans Wines has much to offer to visitors over the Summer season, such as the popular Hanepoot picking activity.

From 3 February to 3 March 2024 the annual Hanepoot picking takes place at De Krans Wines and Hanepoot grapes are available for picking at R10 per kilogram. Bring your basket, cooler box or buy a box at the farm, and head on out into the vineyards for what has become an annual tradition with locals and visitors. A fun family activity for young and old, and the best news is that furry friends are also welcome (bearing in mind that they have to be on a leash). Please note that the fruit picking is subject to availability, and to avoid disappointment we advise that you phone the farm beforehand or look out for updates on our social media platforms and website ahead of your visit. An additional highlight to the Hanepoot picking will be the Hanepoot Trail Run, which takes place on 10 February, and is being hosted by Jakhals Events - perfect for outdoor enthusiasts (For more information or to buy your trail running ticket, please visit https://jakhalsevents.co.za).

Known for their award-winning wines, embrace the opportunity to taste the wide range of De Krans wines, from classic varietals such as their Free Run Chenin Blanc or their popular Pinotage Rosé, to their port-style wines. Not forgetting their dry, natural wines made using Portuguese grapes, such as Touriga Nacional and Verdelho. If you are looking for something sweeter with some fizz for the summer, look no further than the interesting and delicious P&T (port-style and tonic) – a premixed and ready-to-drink sparkling cocktail with flavours of passion fruit, citrus, and pineapple. Alternatively, try the Premium Moscato range – a popular wine range known for its lower alcohol content, slight fizz, and delicious muscat and fruit flavours. The Premium Rosé Moscato Perlé recently received the title of Sparkling Wine of the Year at the 2023 Ultra Value Wine Challenge so be sure to give it a try – best served chilled. Should you not be able to make the trip to Calitzdorp, the wines are available to order online on www.dekrans.co.za, or from most retail outlets nationwide.
