Following the recent unbundling of LUSAN PREMIUM WINES Neethlingshof, and its associate farm Olives, are now independent family owned wine estates operating under the Stone Pine Wines (SPW) banner.

Named after the renowned 1km avenue of Stone Pines leading from the gate of the Neethlingshof estate, Stone Pine Wines - which is wholly owned by the Schreiber family - also encompasses the well-known Hill&Dale brand.

Stone Pine Wines Managing Director, Niel van Deventer, explains that regardless of the change in ownership of the brands, the winemakers and viticulturists behind the brands remain unchanged. “We are fortunate to ensure continuity with De Wet Viljoen (Neethlingshof) and Guy Webber (Hill&Dale) as our winemakers. As a result it is business as usual with double the passion from our small committed team.”

For the immediate future Stone Pine Wines will focus on establishing sales and distribution networks locally and internationally. The group intends to invest in vineyard expansion to ensure that they have sufficient high quality fruit available, and will also continue to invest in their barrel maturation capacity - believing that these two components remain central to the production of award winning wines. Future plans include enhanced focus and investment in hospitality, cellar door and wine tourism initiatives.

“We are confident that both the Neethlingshof and Hill&Dale brands have significant growth potential given the dedicated focus and attention that they will now receive,” says Van Deventer, who explains that the Schreiber family first invested in the local wine industry in the middle 1980’s and are committed to South Africa.

“Neethlingshof has always played a major role in the Schreiber’s SA investments and the Neethlingshof estate as we know it today came about as a result of the family’s investment, restoration and re-development of this historic wine estate. They have now come full circle – with the property back under their wholly owned control.”
