Nitida To Host Exclusive Sauvignion Blanc Tastings

To celebrate their award-winning Sauvignon Blancs, Nitida – one of South Africa’s most successful boutique cellars – will be hosting a series of Private Summer Tastings.

These exclusive gatherings take place on Friday, November 9, and Friday, November 23, from 18:00 to 21:00 at the cellar which is located in the beautiful Durbanville Wine Valley.

Limited to just 20 guests per tasting, these two not-to-be-missed events will consist of a tutored tasting of the FNB Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc’s of 2018, hosted by Nitida winemaker Daniel Keulder as well as a surprise "peek" at Nitida's Wild Child 2018 vintage.

The 2018 FNB Sauvignon Blanc Top 10 competition results were announced this month and featured four of the Durbanville Wine’s estates. The winning wines were the acclaimed Nitida Wild Child 2017 (wooded); the D’Aria The Songbird 2017, De Grendel Koetshuis 2017 (wooded) and the Diemersdal Winter Ferment 2018. The other wines in the Top 10 were the Bellingham Homestead 2018; Flagstone Free Run 2017; Fryer’s Cove Doringbay 2017; Rustenberg 2018; Tokara Reserve Collection Elgin 2018 and the Kleine Zalze Vineyard Reserve 2017.

Says Bernhard Veller, owner of Nitida: "Some of the country's best Sauvignon Blancs are made right here in the Durbanville Wine Valley and, because summer is the perfect time to drink this varietal, we thought it a great idea to hold these tastings so that wine lovers can judge the quality for themselves while relaxing in a wonderfully scenic location.

“This is the fourth time in the history of the FNB Top 10 competition that Nitida has been included and it’s a regular occurrence that Durbanville grapes dominate the competition. We are proud of our vineyards and our winemakers for these achievements and delighted that we can share these fabulous wines at these two exclusive events.”

In addition to the tastings, guests will be able to enjoy platters of mouth-watering tapas, prepared by Cassia Restaurant, which will be served throughout the evening.
