Vergelegen wine estate takes measures against coronavirus (COVID-19)
07:17:00For centuries, the owners of Vergelegen have welcomed visitors to this beautiful wine estate in the heart of Somerset West.
Guests’ experiences have always been a top priority and a source of delight. It is after much careful consideration that management has decided to temporarily close the estate to visitors from Tuesday 17 March 2020 until 01 April 2020 inclusive (re-opening 02 April at this point).
This is in light of the World Health Organisation declaration that the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is a global pandemic; and the 15 March statement by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announcing measures to combat the disease.
“Our main concern is the health and safety of our visitors, our staff, and our community, so we are playing our part in helping to minimise the spread of this virus by limiting contact amongst groups of people. We are also escalating the already comprehensive cleaning and sanitising procedures in our visitor and production facilities,” said CEO Wayne Coetzer.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors back to this glorious estate as soon as circumstances permit. We are using this time to invest in additional staff training, tweaking our restaurant menus, and generally ensuring that our well-known hospitality facilities and services are world-class.”
