De Krans Brings Home The Gold
11:13:00For the 4th year in a row the De Krans Pinotage Rosé has been awarded the prestigious Double Gold medal at the 2021 Rosé Rocks Competition.
This year the award was bestowed on the 2021 vintage.
This competition is the first of its kind in SA which is entirely dedicated to Rosé and seeks to not only acknowledge excellence in Rosé winemaking but also to in effect, promote the category in SA. The competition was chaired by, Norma Ratcliffe, who was joined on the judging panel by four other industry role players.
The same vintage was also awarded Gold at the ninth annual Vitis Vinifera Awards, which took place in early September. Not stopping there, De Krans Wines also took home Double Gold for the Basket Press Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, Double Gold for the Garden Route Sauvignon Blanc 2021 and Gold for the Twist of Fate 2019.
The Vitis Vinifera Awards was established recognise high-quality wines and grape derived spirits that are available to consumers. Their aim is to identify and award the very best. The judging panel was Spencer Fondaumiere, the Chairman of South African Sommelier Association, Wanda Cronje CWM, Meryl Weaver CWM, Dave March CWM, Richard Kershaw MW, Lizette Tolken CWM, Jacqui Henderson CWM, Lisha de Villiers CWM, Dr. Andy Roediger CWM, Dr. Caroline Snyman CWM, Dr. Carla Weightman, Dr. Mare-Loe Prinsloo.
