Sip, Savour & Slow Down At Nederburg In Paarl
09:21:00The popular Slow Market has moved to the Nederburg winery in Paarl.
A civic institution and favourite attraction for tourists and locals over the course of 13 years, the original gourmet food market in Stellenbosch has influenced many small entrepreneurs’ lives and has grown multiple well-loved brands from humble beginnings.
To celebrate its new home in Paarl, young and old are invited for a deep-dive into utter deliciousness by making their way there for a vibey night market experience on Friday, 10 December, with another taking place the next Friday, on the 17th, just before Christmas. The market’s normal trading hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 15:00, while the duo of night markets start at 17:00 and run until 21:00. Please note, the market will not operate on the weekends of Christmas and New Year.
Expect an inspiring array of street food cooks, artisans, florists, grocers, jewellers, slow food and locally-made products. Greet old favourites like Black Olive Cape Malay curries, Monsef’s legendary shawarmas, Willem Viljoen’s (aka Boeremusiek RSG) amazing sausages and charcuterie.
Chef Laudon will be rustling up his famous lamb burgers in their more than generous proportions. There will be new experiences like single origin coffee served with chocolate cups and a little ice cream deli with daring new umami tastes. Corne will be back with her local and imported cheeses, and there will be plenty of local Paarl producers with all kinds of wonderful homemade delicacies, cakes, tarts, olives, chilli sauces and scrumptious fudges.
The craft and fashion section will be filled with jewellery, designer clothes, South African souvenirs and local design for you, your kids and even your pets.
Slow down, relax and enjoy the live music on offer every weekend while the kids are entertained in the stunning new play area featuring jungle gyms and zip-lines, a tree house, swings and more. There will be lawn games offered for all to engage in and play the old-fashioned way.
The venue is high-ceilinged, well-ventilated and the grounds are extensive, perfect for families and friends to socialise safely. All vendors and market staff are fully compliant with Covid regulations.
