Comfort food and great wines make winter bearable, and Perdeberg Cellar, is where you will find these when looking for an outing to the winelands.

Less than 60 minutes from Cape Town (even closer if you live in Durbanville, Malmesbury or Paarl/Wellington area) make the most of your visit with a hearty homecooked meal at the cellar’s country-kitchen style restaurant, Eat @ Perdeberg, after your wine tasting experience.

Situated adjacent to the Tasting Room the talented team under Chef Rob Hahn’s wing will treat you to delicious home-style tried and tested dishes, made from locally sourced produce. The meals have been created to be enjoyed with Perdeberg’s award-winning selection of wines. A family-friendly establishment the young ones can play in the secure garden area (weather permitted), whilst the adults sit back and enjoy their meal.

In keeping with the theme of winter, Chef Hahn has created a seasonal-inspired menu that combines local favourites and hearty comfort food. Light meals include frikkadels and mash; Mosbolletjie and biltong pâté; or a cheese platter for two. Main course is the epitome of comfort food with dishes such as venison pie served with brandied fruit, and Cape Malay chicken curry and yellow raisin rice. For those who enjoy a hearty oxtail casserole, Chef’s beef oxtail with samp and beans is bound to be a hit this winter. Kids can choose from favourites such as a mini beef burger and chips; or meatballs and mash. Make sure you leave room for dessert as who can resist a freshly baked Cape brandy pudding served with homemade custard.

Also open for breakfast, Eat @ Perdeberg serves these delicious meals Wednesday to Saturday (9am to 4pm) as well as Sundays and public holidays (10am to 5pm). For more information visit https://perdeberg.co.za/restaurant/.
