There’s no arguing that winter has brought with it an extra chill factor this year.

Not only perfect for sitting closely near a crackling fireplace, but also a charming red wine. And with school holidays in full swing you’re wanting to look for things to do that offer at least one of these.
Look no further than Perdeberg Cellar, for their popular Venison and Red Wine Pairing, which is currently available until September. Less than 60 mintues from Cape Town, this offering is available Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 4pm. The pairing includes four different bite size venison inspired canape paired with a red wine from their relevant ranges.

Treat your tastebuds to the curated pairing of the following:

  • Venison droëwors paired with the Vineyard Collection Cinsault 2022
  • Biltong pâté paired with the Vineyard Collection Pinotage 2021
  • Venison spring roll paired with the Vineyard Collection Malbec 2021
  • Mini venison burger paired with the Dry Land Collection Tenacious Shiraz 2019

Now that you know what the pairings are let’s tell you a little bit more about these fabulous wines.

The Vineyard Collection Cinsault 2022 is aromatic with fresh red berries, cherries and candy floss flavours. The palate is spicy soft and easy drinking.

Aromas of prunes, cherries and ripe berry notes with hints of vanilla oak, best describes the Vineyard Collection Pinotage 2021. The palate is filled with ripe fruit and rich tannins with a long aftertaste.

A varietal becoming quite popular, the Vineyard Collection Malbec 2021 with its dark berry and cherry flavours fills the glass with hints of dried spices and cloves. The palate is rich and ends with sweet ripe fruit flavours.

Saving the best for last is The Dry Land Collection Tenacious Shiraz 2019’s nose is spicy with a hint of white pepper, cloves, fresh tobacco, and violets. The palate shows tones of mulberries, cherries, and fynbos, while the structure is broad with delicate tannins and a fresh aftermath.

All of these wines are available to purchase directly from the Tasting Room and will make a great addition to any wine enthusiast’s collection.

The cost per person for the Venison and Red Wine Pairing is R150 and booking via 021 869 8244 or tasting@perdeberg.co.za is recommended.
